Counseling Services
Our Child Therapy Services include:
Play Therapy:
which is a form of therapy tailored to address and assist children's needs in a way that feels most natural and safe to them…..play!!! The BPBC team has been trained in a variety of different play therapy techniques in order to best work with a multitude of differing issues that children might face. The BPBC play therapist works to create a warm and inviting atmosphere where the child feels safe and supported in order to share, connect, and express their feelings to the therapist. Some of the issues:
  • Include developmental issues and arenas such as depression, mood, anxiety and behavior problems, and issues stemming from the environment, such as divorce, re-marriage, adoption, school and traumatic events.
  • Also includes parenting the challenging child, whether that be the child with sensory problems, or the behavior/emotional issues in children.
  • Includes counseling with children diagnosed with unique differences including ADHD, Asperger's Disorder, Learning Disorders or Differences.
  • Can be about problems relating to an unexpected event. This can be the death of a family member, a traumatic experience, or any event that has had an emotional impact.
  • Many times may be about behavior issues, which may include making up a unique behavior plan for your child to motivate him or her in the areas of concern. Points are awarded along with prizes to help encourage your child in their progress towards success.
Our Services for Older kids and Pre-Teens include:
Activity Therapy:
This is a form of counseling that works well for older kids and pre-adolescents. Through a variety of means from expressive art techniques to playing pool or ping pong, or through listening to your child as he or she makes cookies, the therapist works to build rapport with slightly older children who may no longer be appropriate for play therapy - but are not yet ready for adult talk therapy. Activity therapy provides a developmentally appropriate way to express thoughts and feelings without feeling the pressure or anxieties that might be associated with talk therapy.

Of course, many kids can sit and talk at this age, and with those who can, we also work with them whether with activities or without - to help them verbally process their outer and inner experiences in a caring, friendly environment.
Teen Counseling:
  • This includes developmental issues and also areas such as depression, mood, anxiety and behavior problems, and issues stemming from the environment, such as divorce, re-marriage, school, adoption, and traumatic events.
  • This also includes parenting the challenging teenager, whether that be the teenager with sensory problems, or the behavior/emotional issues in teens.
  • Counseling with teenagers diagnosed with unique differences including ADHD, Asperger's Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Learning Disorders or Differences.
  • Counseling with regard to problems relating to an unexpected event. This can be the death of a family member, a traumatic experience, or any event that has had an emotional impact.
  • Counseling in terms of behavior issues, including making a unique family contract for your teenager to help motivate him or her in the areas of concern.
  • We consult with schools and school districts, including going to meetings at schools for 504 meetings or ARD meetings to secure the best help possible.
  • Of course, even with teens, we may not always sit... but a game of ping pong or pool can help establish rapport building, that can encourage the teen to feel positive related to speaking about the issues and concerns they are dealing with.
Other Counseling Work we Offer:
Individual Adult Therapy:
Will be tailored to fit the unique needs and situation of each client. Many therapists at BPBC have been trained to work with adults with a variety of different presenting concerns.
Filial therapy training/Child Parent Relationship Training:
This is a type of therapy that involves both the parent and the child. A therapist will work individually or in a group setting with parents to teach parents some of the crucial skills that are utilized in a therapeutic setting.
Family Counseling Services:
This type of therapy can be done in a variety of ways. Each family is different and we at BPBC understand this. There are no two family dynamics that are exactly alike and we will work to find a way to make family therapy the most beneficial for your family. Depending on the age ranges of family members and developmental differences of particular family members, the BPBC therapist will try to create a unique and individualized plan to incorporate all members of the family in a way that is most helpful and meaningful to them.
Marriage/Couples Counseling Services:
This type of therapy is intended for persons who are married or in partnered relationships that may need outside assistance and therapeutic insight into the current state of the relationship. Our marriage and couples therapists will work to build rapport with each person and provide a safe environment in which to work on the relationship.
